It’s always good to get a new vehicle, particularly one that saves lives.

The Redstone Fire Department has received Rescue 3, a 2022 Rosenbauer medium rescue truck. The vehicle was delivered in April.

“And it is replacing a 1994 model rescue truck,” Deputy Chief Robert Simmons said.

It was part of a bulk purchase centrally procured by the Army. Redstone was among several fire departments which received new vehicles.

The truck is assigned to Station 3 on Patton Road. Matt Kraner, a Rosenbauer training instructor, provided new vehicle familiarization May 18 at Station 4 at the Airfield. Members of the entire fire department attended this in-service training session.

Garrison Deputy Commander Martin Traylor also attended and saw the new truck.

“Anytime we can upgrade the fire department here on Redstone, it’s a great thing for the fire department and for the community,” Traylor said.

Simmons took the opportunity to present a 20-year service pin to fire inspector Ken Riley. “Happy to be here,” Riley said.
